Does Ron have a Plan? No really, does he?

Because I'm not so sure the Cylons do...

(assume I'm a spoiler whore)

so basically...

"... and they have a plan

well, they *had* a plan - now they have an outline of a script that was once a remnant of the beginnings of a possibly cool plan in the outtermost regions of Ron's mind though it is now covered with post-it note ammendments and black scribbled areas obscured by a large, vague arrow pointing to nihilism, doom and eventually earth.

Said plan is subject to further change and abandoment."

I've been questioning Ron's plan more as the series goes on. I think he had a plan to begin with, but I think said plan has changed dramatically.

Speaking of, for having a plan, the cylons sure do change their minds a lot. First they wanted to annihilate us, then they wanted to live with us, and now they want to find Earth. Um...sounds like the kind of plan I would make...that doesn't inspire much confidence.

the plan is to - find a plan?

Honestly? No.

I think there may be a few things he has drawn out (he mentioned head-Baltar for instance), but if someone would tell me that the ones who are apparently outed as "Cylons" in the season finale, have always been Cylons (or whatever - I don't trust that definition anymore), I'd laugh out loud. I guess they are making something up as they go (personally, I think that sucks, because I just love continuity).

I once stumbled across a vid on youtube which was hilarious - "they have a plan...no...they had a plan..." or something like that. I lost the link and can't find it anymore. *sobs*

...probably deleted by those frakking frakked up fraktart frakkers at youtube. *rant rant rant*

I agree with you about the latest spoiler - they've basically thrown canon out the airlock - then again, they did that when they finitoed their cylon detector. *grr* I don't mind plot holes as such, I mind gigantic canon voids!
pennyfeline: animalpennyfeline on March 6th, 2007 10:12 am (UTC)
Yeah, what about the Cylon detector anyway... did it ever work? It seemed to work when Baltar tested Sharon, but if it did, why didn't they test people 24/7? It's just really weird.

(Though, they could still say the final five are soul-like beings who take over random bodies and can't be detected... *muhahaha*)
ellymelly: world endsellymelly on March 6th, 2007 10:35 am (UTC)
yeah, it did work. but i think they decided it was a little too convinient to have a cylon detector just sitting around... it's like atlantis having the shield and omgawesome weapons. you just can't keep something like that because it creates too many problems. The only thing that bugs me is that they didn't explain WHY the cylon detector is no longer used. Sure, they showed that baltar was just passing everyone but he's a curious creature - and he sure as hell would have tested himself! just because he could!

soul like beings? *frown* what happened to our lovely confused human/cylons seeking revenge on their creator/parents? *sigh* the good old days when nothing made sense but we believed there was a plan.

you know I'm not going to watch more of that show until they make Bill psychic, like he was in the original.

Well, it's the remake, so they probably make him psycho.

You know I didn't think he had a plan or they had a plan until this morning and I'm starting to wonder if in fact he does have a plan.

But mostly, I'm thinking "they have a plan" isn't referring to the cylons.

after what i read in your journal, i think that's way cooler.

there is sooo much potential for a very cool series/utlimate mindfrak conclusion atm. (or complete screw up) I hope they go for the first!
arlet33 on March 6th, 2007 11:47 am (UTC)
Yah, when I read who the 'new' cylons were I thought the same exact thing. But then I remembered that, when Boomer was getting interrogated at the very beginning of season 2, she said that there were 8(?) more cylons in the fleet... Maybe that is a glimmer of hope for a possible plan?

I just don't really think that one of them especially could possibly be a cylon... But maybe you guys were right above when you said that this could be a whole mindfrak thing and things aren't the way that we think they are...

That's a good question. I've been listening to the podcasts lately (good way to pass the time when doing a mindless task), and it sounds like RDM has a general/broad idea of where he wants to take things, but I get the impression that they change things a bit whenever they come up with a new story idea. For example, they did not intially plan on killing Kara when they started on the story for Maelstrom, but when Ron threw the idea out there and everyone was so shocked by it, they decided to go with it. At that point, they figured out whether it would work into the "overall arc of the series." Now, how these changes end up altering that arc in the long run or the continuity of the show, I don't know.

I'm still trying to figure out whether RDM is flying by the seat of his pants or if he really does have an explaination that will explain away any apparent continuity errors that will be revealed later in the series.

Personally, I think he just likes screwing with our heads.

Oh, if only I were a telepath. I could read his mind and find out all his devious plans. bwahahaha!

I think they have a general plan, but not down to the tiniest details. I dunno though, I suppose when we find out what's going on with Starbuck that will give us a good clue. If her destiny is such a big part of the story then they better make it worthy of all this buildup.
