DR WHO - The Wedding of River Song
...and THAT'S how you write a season final.

I'll never get tired of SM being an epic writer of huge branching, timeywhimy plots that make perfect sense if you pay attention and yet are impossible to unravel until the final hour. That's not just skill - it's story telling at its best.

Truthfully, River Song's story has been laid out for us form the very first time she appeared on screen back in the Library. On re-watch, it's clear that she's the doctor's wife and everything she says about armies turning and their adventures through time and space all come to pass. SM hasn't had to back write or cheat to get around the doctor's 'death'. No, he threw in everything we needed to know to unravel the doctor's survival plan in previous episodes. The only reason we didn't is ONLY THE DOCTOR would try and get away with something that brillant - use his friends and lovers to orchestrate a cover up the CIA would be proud of.

What used to irritate me most about RTD was his cheating - getting out of circumstances with Lord of the Rings style OMG BUT WAIT LOOK AT THIS MAGICAL THING I CAN USE TO ESCAPE CERTAIN DOOM! No. You can do it once. You can't do it all the time because it's like watching an olympic runner on the back of a  motor bike win the 100m dash. No kidding.

'The Wedding of River Song' felt like a good old fashioned afternoon adventure with tomb raiding, time travel and romance. There isn't enough of this left in the world. Doctor Who is fun. It's silly, it's moving and it's heart warming.
Feeling...: chipperchipper
