(possible spoilers - not really much beyond the trailers considering they haven't given us any spoilers yet)
. . .
VICTORIAN PLOT Obviously, it has something to do with time lines and, according to Helen in the last episode of S3 - trying to preserve the current timeline whilst both Adam and John want to change it for their various nefarious purposes :)

Helen is is London - we know that there must: 2 versions of helen, 2 versions of John and 2 versions of Adam. Also included would naturally be Nigel, James and Nikola - possibly even Gregory if they manage to rope him into a guest appearance (possibly not - I haven't heard any spoilers refer to this).

In the previews we DID see both James and Nikola, so I think it's safe to say that they'll be part of the initial, 'save the timeline' plot in what will be the first two or three episodes of the season.

I'm really hoping we get to see a bit of evil John. He's such a dark character and this will be well into his Jack the Ripper days...

I saw an ugly arse full-on vampire in that promo - nothing like Nikola at all. It's either a) Nikola in his early days utterly vamped up and really freaking scary or b) the vampire Gregory took the sample of source blood from or even c) from a different story line altogether.
MONSTER OF THE WEEK I know a lot of peple aren't fond of the, 'Monster of the Week' thing that Sanctuary does but it is a familiar style of story telling that Stargate used to do (which is where I'm sure they've stolen it from). You have an overarching plot that runs through the season and, scattered in amongst this, stand alone episodes that have absolutely nothing to do with it. Sometimes those are fun, especially when they are done really well.

I'd love to see an abnormal that preys on Will's power of observation - instead of all mutated we get something with mental abnormalities that make it powerful - a bit like KUSH in season one - but far more manipulative.

Also, I think there's a lot of things they could do with that Fire Elemental of theirs - and creatures that are locked inside Hollow Earth. I'm not a fan of these things 'walking onto the surface of the earth in an army' - for me, at least, it reminds me too much of those human-style aliens in Stargate when all I really wanted to see was some interesting, non-human creatures.

For example, the interesting questions regarding Hollow Earth are: Why are the Praxians down there? How did they get everything down there? What actually trapped the creatures there as opposed to it being a choice? and finally, why to the Praxians want to stay put - but all their Abnormal pets want to leave?

I don't buy the explanation that we were given for the fall of the Praxian empire. They've survived too long to be toppled like that. Adam would not be able to crumble their empire - yes, cause a bit of damage - but I highly doubt that under the entire surface of the earth (as viewed from that map a couple of eps before the end) that the Praxians only have one city - one stronghold for their empire. It's all too easy. It's 'Hollow Earth' not 'A small city burried under a mountain range'.
CHARACTER DEATHS Any one going to die this season? I'll go out on a limb and say not this season but next season, perhaps Adam or John. We're going to see some minor, tempory characters die but I doubt the main cast will suffer casualties.
OMG I SHIP IT (ships and slashes) Helen/Nikola: We've been given enough hints and spoilers to know that this is becoming the ship of the show. We're being thrown kisses, flirting - life saving and sacrificing scenes. It's all there in the script from the very beginning. I only hope that perhaps they'll throw us some flashbacks. JY mentioned something about 'history' so I'm thinking there's some very important twists in their relationship hidden in the past. Either they were lovers, or Nikola was Helen's first lover, before John. I used to think that the relationsip in the past was mostly one sided pining from Nikola - but now I'm not so sure. I think there's more to it.

One plot I am really hoping the show goes for is in relation to this time travel plot. Here's my wish:

!futureHelen tracks down !historicalNikola, seeking is help in regards to what Adam and John are up to. At this point in Nikola's timeline, he's still a rather shy gentleman that has not voiced any of his affections for Helen. She kisses him after he's helped her (because she's so used to Nikola's affections) and that is the moment that he becomes infatuated with her. He has to live though all the rest of his time line knowing that one day Helen might love him. Can you imagine the conversation they would have after Helen returns to the future? Nikola will always have known that Helen was going to be sent back in time but unlike John, he never tries to alter the timeline because he knows that the universe has to be allowed to play out.

James/John: OH PLEASE give us Ripper - Detective scenes in Victorian flashbacks. That would just be so very epic.

Kate/Henry or Kate/Bigfoot: I'm not sure which one - but they're both kind of cute. I had to LOL at AD's comment about the love interest being Tesla - perfect for crack, but totally against his century and a half of undying love for Helen. Bigfoot and Kate are adorable but - have to say - HAIRY LOL.

John/Helen: Flashbacks only, I think. I still can't ship it present day knowing that he's JACK THE RIPPER.
CHARACTER BY CHARACTER Helen: A lot of soul searching about her past, this season. We've heard that she's being given a 'love interest' that's not a regular. I have a feeling that whoever and whatever they are will meet a nasty end because the show is inevitably sprialling towards a relationsip with Tesla. I hope that she is forced to come to terms with what they all got up to back in the Victorian era - and the true nature of their experiment with the vampire blood. That is such an interesting part of the show - its genisis really and yet we've only seen a tiny flashback to that moment.

John: He needs to go evil. His character strength is his darkness - the torment between loving Helen (who he lost) and his lust for blood (either a response to the vampire blood or the creature inside him - maybe both). I like him best when he embraces the darkness of his character - it gives the show more edge like it had in the webseries.

James: Peter Wingfield said that he's retiring from acting but WE KNOW that he's going to be in this series because he was in the trailers. Obviously, it'll be flashbacks - and I'm holding out for VICTORIAN flashbacks - back when he was working on the Ripper Case. I'd love to see him run into John back then.

Nigel: We might get a bit more Nigel - he's always fun. The odds are good considering there are going to be Victorian flashbacks. We don't really know much about his character - and he seems, at least superficially, to be very different from the H. G. Wells character.

Tesla: He's becoming a regular. A troublesome, genuine, sometimes misguided - always loyal character. Despite his best efforts to rule the world, he always ends up saving it (bless) and I'm guessing that this is a trend that shall continue. I think more and more this season, we're going to see the human side of Tesla - and then perhaps his darkest past (Victorian). I'd love to see his extremes and I'd also love to see his heart get a little love.
RANDOM STUFF Good writing. For me, Sanctuary has always had excellent ideas and potential but too often has fallen apart with the writing. There are episodes that are exceptions to this, but for the most part plots are underused, characters discarded just as they get interesting (or before they get interesting). Look at Dana - she could have been fascinating after her eviction from the Cabal but we are left to assume her demise off camera.
. . .

Feeling...: pensivepensive

2 versions of John where do you get that there are 2 johns? did i miss something in the trailer (i only saw victorian!john)? although i would love that to happen.
nikolat3sla: innocent...nikolat3sla on September 17th, 2011 09:59 pm (UTC)
well, time travel wise - there should be the John in the Victorian time line - and then the one that has traveled back with Adam. :D

there is no indication that john traveled back in time with adam. adam opens the rift, jumps in, helen follows and the rift closes right after her.

oh i thought that before when john was talking it was insinuated that John had been working with him - i assuemed that he'd find a way to follow lol maybe not. either way there'll be two helen's and two adams.

Excuse me while I babble on...
Time travel makes my head hurt lol. I adore it, I really do. I'm looking forward to how Helen interacts with herself as well as Nigel because we haven't had enough of him yet.

Mostly I am curious to see how she manages to return. I'd love to see Future Helen have to stay hidden until she was able to re-enter her life at the moment she left it, rather than some piece of tech that gets her back home. I think the idea that she's suddenly nearly double her age and her reunion with people after that long could be amazing. Also, perhaps her struggle to want to change the future just as much, but knowing she has to do everything to make sure it doesn't change. This could really bring out the darker side of Helen, shes really got the potential to be really scary/crazy and amazing.

I'd also not mind some Future Helen/Younger Nikola. There are endless possibilities that could be so very much fun. And I know they would probably never write it, but I'd love for Helen to be stuck there. I always thought with the way Nikola is around Helen that it was odd for him to not have had contact with her for so many decades. However, if he already had future her in his life I can see how that might be more plausible.
I'm not lucky enough for any of that mind you. Your take on them would be heart stopping however, care to help me kidnap them all and make all of that happen?

I too am hoping for more James and John moments. There just isn't enough, and what could be better than those moments in Victorian times.

Also, I thought I was the only one that thought Kate/Biggie made sense lol. There is something about them that is adorable. And isn't his every 5 years coming up lmao, we're 4 seasons in! Okay, yeah I'm also a Kate/Henry fan so no complaints if it goes that direction lol.

I'm dying to see the new season, I feel like the weeks have dragged by so slowly. I'm like an addict, I need my fix. And what an awesome present because it comes back on my birthday.

Future Helen have to stay hidden until she was able to re-enter her life at the moment she left it, rather than some piece of tech that gets her back home.

^^^ so very epic. she'd be a different person entirely and yet still Helen. She'd have to ignore the things in her life that she'd want to change - like saving Ashley.

However, if he already had future her in his life I can see how that might be more plausible.

Oh I like that - Nikola's absent because he's WITH Helen all that time, when she needs him most and is all alone in the world.

Sadly I don't think it works with how adorable Nikola is - and how he just looks at her in that longing, lonely way.

and totally - we just have to hijack the scripts. EASY

OOH it comes on your birthday? LOL EPIC. i'm going to buy the season three dvd to tie me over.

Re: Excuse me while I babble on...
Oooh, I need to buy season 3. I have far too many things to buy with all my kids birthdays coming up and parties to plan. Season 3 is still all on my DVR though, so I'll be okay for now lol.

There were some mentions of more stand alone stories since it is only a 13 episode season. I have hopes for more flashbacks and recognizable things rather than random creatures we'll never see again. I predict name dropping on Magnus' part. I love it, and every time she says a famous name my husband will of course yell "I'm Old!" Why he thinks that never gets old is beyond me lol.

So really unless I land a job as a writer for the show my insane ideas will remain just that. Or fanfic, if I find time and energy.

Ha! When Abby first showed up and Will didn't remember her I thought that she was going to be the villain at some point. Will not remembering her was a good setup for that happening, she could have been anyone. Now she knows an awful lot and is in a good position to betray them all somehow.
I still have hopes for that one day. I have to admit to not really caring for her character, she's so sweet it's annoying. I think that is what initially made me suspicious of her, far too fakey sweet.
nikolat3sla: t e s l anikolat3sla on September 20th, 2011 04:00 am (UTC)
with the time paradox thing - i think it's possible that both watson and tesla have known all along that helen would one day be back in the past - and they've kept that secret from her to preserve the time line. I swear, sometimes when Nikola's looking at her, it's as if he's keeping loads of secrets - secrets about her.

aww that's so cute - but i wonder why he left her - considering there's now a gap of (probably) three years - unless that's where he always vanishes off to when he's not in the episodes - back to his Helen.

First off, I'd like to say that in the beginning I shipped Helen/John. Now (as of last season) I totally am rooting for Nikola!! LOVE him so much!!! I do see it now!
I'm really looking forward to seeing the 5 again with this story line in Victorian era! I also wonder if she'll interact with her past self?
nikolat3sla: smilenikolat3sla on September 20th, 2011 03:57 am (UTC)
*welcomes you to the shipper fold with muffins*

i think she does interact with her past self - or at least SEES her past self (it's in one of the trailers). :D

Did John follow her through the rift? Not sure, but maybe they will throw that in at the beginning of the episode. I just want to see Evil!John! Can't wait to see James again. I don't mind Monster of the Week, it's the meat and two veg of Sanctuary. These major story arcs are just like delicious dressings to me. And I would love us to find out that Helen and Nikola had a relationship. That would go a long way to explaining why John and Nikola hate eachother so much....John stole her from Nikola andthen proceeded to break her heart. OH the angst! Personally I think Helen's love interest will just be her fancying someone she meets during some adventure and gets herself some sugar, instead of anything meaningful. Also think that Helen going back to the past will be how they know about her longevity...obvs she speaks to James, although it will be interesting how he explains it to her since I presume he won't want to tell her she goes back. But even if she did know she came back from the future it would work, it would explain her willingness to step through after Adam. Also thinking Will breaks up with Abby after the musical episode, I just think it's her that gets possessed.
nikolat3sla: tackle hugnikolat3sla on September 20th, 2011 03:56 am (UTC)
totally agree with you about everything, especially Helen's temp. lover. I think i know who he is, and if i'm right - then he turns out to be evil lol (as they all do - BAD BOYS)

Abby as evil? it would have been so cool. she's too floaty to be an FBI agent. I literally cannot see her existing in that role at all.
Perilous Quegquerulouspeg on September 20th, 2011 08:10 am (UTC)
You think it's a guy then? Lots of people are thinking it's going to be a girl. I don't mind either way personally, I just want Helen to get some! MUHAHAHA! And yeah, Abby is meant to be an FBI agent and yet she acts like a total ditz in both One Night and Wingman. I mean, she's a nice enough girl, but she doesn't fit who she's meant to be AT ALL. Plus, I dunno, I love Will, but the whole bit with them doing it in his office and then her parading about in front of Magnus and Henry when they stole the food....just.....not....right....I mean, that's your boss William. I guess he must feel pretty free since Magnus so blithely told him to kill himself in Kali.
mikasteelelell: Nikola_Crazyoxbastetxo on September 19th, 2011 12:35 pm (UTC)
I'm not thinking the kiss scene was in the past because Nikola had a modern tie on. I know it's a weird bit to focus on, but that was he was not in Victorian dress.

NIGEL! I want more NIGEL! (not that I'm obsessed with him or anything ;p )

nikolat3sla: smilenikolat3sla on September 20th, 2011 03:54 am (UTC)
no it's definitely a present day - i was just pondering how epic a past kiss would be :D aparantly it was also AD-LIB lol!

you should get more nigel :D
Nigel Griffinnigelgriffin on September 20th, 2011 09:28 am (UTC)
LOL..that would explain the stunned look on Nikola's face. ;-)

More Nigel is always a good thing. :-D
