harry potter

have just watched the new harry potter film...

it goes without saying - wth was with the change of ending? of all the deviations they made from the book, that was one of the more glaring ones. A real shame because it was one of the more skilfully moments that JK had weaved.

Love snape - always have always will and he OWNED every scene he was in. the voice - the poses the - i could go all day... he was the best part of the film hands down.

i didn't really enjoy it overall as much as i wanted to (and i really did want to enjoy it). so far i've tuned into the films as a curiosity. i love the books to death, they were so vivid and powerful that the movies consitently don't seem to be able to convey the severity of the series. i don't know why, they just don't. and it's a shame because to people who haven't read the books (parents and nephew) the story comes off like any other fantasy plot where the main character galavants through a world without rules. Every magic trick and lucky escape feels like a cheat on screen while in the books great pains were taken to make sure that the magical world of Harry Potter was firmly grounded.

i have no idea how they're going to reconile the last book - especially as they seem to be ignoring greyback's existence *sigh* and not to mention leaving out giant hints to Snape's backstory (like his conversation with Dumbldore late in the book).

i don't know - i guess i just feel let down by it after waiting 45 minutes in line to go and see it.

the best part (other than snape) is, 'she's only going out with you because she thinks you're the chosen one' - 'but i am the chosen one' *SMACK*

loved that bit to bits!

in other news, am now reading, 'the moon is a harsh mistress' - so far i ADORE IT. it had me cracking up into fits of laughter within the first few chapters - totally unexpected!

OMG I LOVE Robert A. Heinlein!! I actually haven't read The Moon is a Harsh Mistress yet, but it's on my to-read shelf. He's hilarious, and has a super keen insight into human nature. I love how snarky he is, and he's like a superatheist. =)

greyback was there... he just didn't do anything... *annoyed* And the Bill/Fleur thing! WTF where is it? Thank God I'm not the only one who didn't outright enjoy it. People keep saying it's the best yet and it so clearly is NOT.

Jeez! As someone who hasn't read the books, I was compeletly lost! I understood the last 5. But this one???

I saw tons of interviews, behind the scenes and they made it out as if it was the greatest movie in history or something!

I seriously was disapointed, as all the interviews, trailers and behind the scenes got me majorly eager!

I didn't understand the storyline, it was really badly done and I'm not the only one who thinks so. I read tons of reviews by various fans and they were NOT happy!
