A collection of photographs of the farm

Random rainbow over the back - sunset over the hastings river whilst crossing on the ferry - lightening at the farm during a summer storm - the moon rising over the front paddock at dusk.

A triple rainbow over the front paddock. Sadly, my camera couldn't pick up the third, faint rainbow inside the inner arch - but it's there!!! The paddocks are brown from a nasty frost.

A mutant six-leaf clover. I've found them with up to 9 leaves.

Comet McNaught over the river at the back of the house. This photo was taken with my little digital camera which usually can't see squat at night so believe me when I say that this was a VERY BRIGHT comet!

Main beach at Port Macquarie - the permanent ship moored at the Port Macquarie jetty - and the gorgeous yellow sea plane that does circuits all day and lives in one of the canals.

A very ambivalent green tree frog in the process of being hunted by my cat, Leeloo. For those concerned, it escaped unharmed.

Front beach and Back beach at Crescent Head which is about 10 min from our house but only 5km as the crow flies. This is the ocean we can sometimes hear at night.

An unnervingly friendly emu at the wildlife park up the road. They let all the animals wander out back most of the time, so don't be troubled by the enclosure.

A lounging grey kangeroo which we were patting - sun baking lizards - and a casuary which looks more like a relative of the VRaptor.

Two peacocks - one ablino and a possum.

An old lava formation at Flynn's beach (just around the corner from Main Beach). No - I don't know who the randoms in the photo are.

That tiny brown streak behind the read bank is the *ACTUAL* river. The enormous lake is from the rain!!!

Snoopy - checking out the flooded jetty. Just to clarify - there are sharks in this river. Sharks that eat people - and have...

Snoopy - satisfied with his inspection and a view looking back toward the house and orchid. (There's not supposed to be any water in that last image).

Our driveway - completely underwater. The edge of the water lillies represents the edge of the dam... in theory.

That whit sand is on the bank usually about 4 foot from the water's edge. Also, that thin line of grass front of the image? That's the edge of the road... Driving at this point became interesting. And the council says that we don't flood. Give me a break.

Again I feel the need to mention that the sand is on the bank of the dam. (It's winter, hence the trees have no leaves - if you were wondering).

There just should not be water past that fence line... lol The water in the pond is almost 5 metres deep.

... there are no dams present in this photo.

again... no dams.

A shocked cricket attempting to makes its escape. I decided to show it to Snoopy but he ate it...  - My feet, demonstrating the depth of the water over the driveway. Yeah, I go barefoot everywhere these days. I probably shouldn't considering the snakes, spiders, bees, sharks, plants etc.

A strainer post which SHOULD NOT be underwater.

The most water we've ever had. It covered the road to the jetty completely and it fell in under 24 hours.

Yes, that's right. It's spring time at the moment and I went on a photo hunt. The biggest news of spring so far? THERE ARE FLOWERS ON THE OLIVE TREEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEES!

Part of the hedge Michael just finished putting in.

A mulberry tree with one of the three figs beginning to take root in it.

Another of the figs - this time a sandpaper fig.

Lemon tree blossoms being very scary.

Orange tree blossoms and the gnarled bark of an old plum tree as well as two peaches already starting to take shape.

Plum trees blossoms with more scary looking bark.

A french urn and underneath the double fig tree looking toward the jetty. (not flooded, this time).

The maria river as it should be.

There are water lilies and white lilies growing naturally along the river. They don't flower until summer.

Buddy inspecting things. A very artsy looking rope making a pose. A yellow weed poking out from the mud.

A china pear tree in full flower.

Looking onto the olives with scary clover starting to grow!

Buddy, roaming through said scary clover. You can see how far it goes with all the white and pink flowers!

To give you some idea of the scale of the clover, this is my hand next to it. We should run a clover farm... seriously.

Mutant clover in relation to my hand. An olive tree and finally a very suspicious looking hole that could be home to any number of nasty things.

Wisteria and a May bush which chooses to flower in September lol!

Wall hanging with the shadow of a flower stand on the wall beside.

Cliviers out in full colour.

An urn and bower with white/peach roses and jasmine.

A double sided love seat underneath the butterfly tree.

lol thank you - but i guarantee you that most of the time it's scary. we have shocking lightening storms almost every night in summer - not to mention the wildlife!!!

oh - it's a shame i didn't get photos of the cherry and peach trees in blossom. I really should have but my camera was out of order at the time.

thank you :D as I said to her though, this place is really like living on the edge. when the lightening storms come through - or the bush fires - or the wildlife - or the rain lmao, then you know you're in australia!

Awww thanks, that's a nice offer :)

I doubt that I ever will make it to Australia, but at least I have a "first hand insight" with your photos.

I'd like to see the one of the rainforest too!
ellymelly: australiaellymelly on September 28th, 2008 07:32 am (UTC)

Lemon: Razor_01lemon_tree_x on September 28th, 2008 08:29 am (UTC)

i can't believe how strongly it smells (but in a good way!) combined with the may bush it's enough to knock you over! LOL

it sounds lovely that you have it growing outside your kitchen and back balcony! :D

And doesn't Wistaria smell gorgeous?

I had no idea it's a plant, I think that name will always remember me on the Desperate Housewives ;)

But now I'd like to know how it smells. I have to look for it!
